"Astrology has been my much loved hobby ever since I first heard mention of it when I was in junior high in the late 60s. From then on, I became an avid explorer and collector of information, books and training on this topic. Back then there wasn't much information about astrology around, especially in the deep south. But everywhere I went, whenever I traveled, I checked out the libraries and bookstores for astrological texts. It was something I did for fun, outside of my regular working life in a variety of administrative positions over the years.
I probably would have majored in astrology in college if that had been possible, but of course, it wasn't considered acceptably academic. But having been deep into this topic for decades, I've accumulated at least a college degree's worth of technical knowledge of it by correspondence courses. I completed two comprehensive training programs, one by H. Eugene Adams delivered to me by snail mail in 1978-79, and the other in 2000-2002, over the world wide web from the Canopus Academy of Astrology in Tasmania Australia.
In college proper I studied related topics--philosophy, religion, mythology, and the history of ideas. I majored in Humanities and read Plato, Homer, the pre-Socratic and post-Socratic Greek philosophers, and much more discourse on ancient and modern knowledge, wisdom and philosophy. The connection of astrology to the humanities, as a topic of discourse over the centuries and as a philosophical system of comprehensive order, evolved into a big part of my appreciation of it. Astrology has its own chapter in the wisdom of the ages.
Over the years, I learned at astrology conferences, in online newsgroups/forums, and through continuing reading and studying on my own. I recently completed the certification testing of the Professional Astrologers' Alliance and am now at work completing the Level III and Level IV projects for full professional certification from this accrediting agency.
As I see it, astrology is about the connection of our selves to nature, not just nature as in the earth, but nature as in the cosmos, including of course the earth. It describes a vast system of order and intelligence which is both beautiful and profound. We can never understand it fully, though we will always try. Intelligent design? Yes, indeed. An intelligence mankind is growing toward with aspiration and inspiration.
In my opinion, the best way to experience the profundity of astrology is to learn the basics of its symbolic language yourself . However, not everyone has time to devote to astrological study. Thus, I offer to translate my learning and experience of astrology into useful life-managing information for you.
As a Taurus Sun and Mercury, practical and useful information is what I understand best. Although some astrologers are also licensed therapists and some are also psychic and combine these talents into their astrological work, I am neither a therapist nor a psychic. Rather, I see my role as a consulting astrologer to identify and report the basic astrological conditions shown in the chart which potentially have immediate practical impact in my clients' lives.
With my Moon in Libra, I am naturally oriented toward finding the points of balance in life and relationships, seeing many sides of issues, seeking ways to harmonize and coordinate diverse perspectives. My goal as a consulting astrologer is to show perspectives and alternative ways to look at circumstances which help inspire a greater sense of harmony, serenity, and appreciation of life.
You will find that the overview of prevailing cosmic conditions in your being and life provided by an astrological consultation, is at least as useful as knowing what to expect weather wise.
